π₯ Homemade Momos Recipe (Vegetarian)

For the Dough:
All-purpose flour (maida) – 2 cups
Salt – ½ tsp
Oil – 1 tbsp
Water – as needed (about ½ to ¾ cup)
For the Filling:
Cabbage (grated) – 1½ cups
Carrot (grated) – ½ cup
Onion (finely chopped) – 1 medium
Garlic (minced) – 1 tbsp
Ginger (minced) – 1 tsp
Spring onion greens – 2 tbsp (optional)
Soy sauce – 1 tbsp
Salt – ½ tsp (adjust to taste)
Black pepper – ¼ tsp
Oil – 1 tbsp

Step 1: Prepare the Dough
1. In a bowl, mix the flour and salt.
2. Add oil and mix it in.
3. Gradually add water and knead into a soft but firm dough.
4. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 20–30 minutes.
Step 2: Prepare the Filling
1. Heat oil in a pan over medium flame.
2. Add garlic, ginger, and onion. SautΓ© until translucent.
3. Add grated cabbage and carrot. Cook for 2–3 minutes (don’t overcook).
4. Add soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
5. Turn off heat, add spring onions if using. Let the filling cool.

2. Roll each ball into a thin circle (about 3-inch diameter).

4. Fold into half-moon or pleat and pinch to seal.
Step 4: Cooking the Momos

Grease a steamer or momo stand.
Place momos without touching each other.
Steam for 10–12 minutes until dough becomes non-sticky and cooked through.
